Targeted Audience

Project managers and any learners that work as project team leaders or members as well as small business owners.

This programme is for individuals who are leading small to large project. Contributing team members on large projects will also find benefit from this programme. These projects will cut across a range of economic sectors. It will also add value to learners who are running their own business as project management forms an integral component of any business.

 

Programme Outcomes

At the end of this qualification learners will:

  • A foundation of basic project management knowledge and skills which can be used to build further project management related competencies;
  • Competence to be an effective project team member;
  • Competence to provide administrative support to a project manager and team members; and
  • Competence to provide assistance to a project manager of medium to large projects.

| Duration | 12 months.
| Delivery Method | 6 four day contact sessions which are intensive with activities, group projects, assignments and presentations at the beginning of each contact session. Learners will be assessed by Wholesale and Retail SETA’s accredited assessors and moderators.

With this certificate learners will gain skills, such as the following:

Entrance requirements:
Achievement of outcomes in Communication and Mathematical Literacy standards at NQF Level 3. We are currently running this program as Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for all trainers/ facilitators who are have not received this formal recognition

Assessment | Submission of a portfolio of evidence documenting application of skills in the workplace + knowledge questionnaire + evaluation of presentations. The assessment includes all fundamentals, core and elective unit standards required for the full certificate | Learners will be Assessed by Services SETA’s accredited assessors and moderators

 

AVAILABLE MODULES

Module 1: Project Management Fundamentals

  • Explain fundamentals of project management
  • Work as a project team member
  • Apply knowledge of statistics and probability to critically interrogate and effectively communicate findings on life related problems
  • Use mathematics to investigate and monitor the financial aspects of personal, business, national and international issues

Module 2: Starting a new project

  • Contribute to project initiation, scope definition and - change control
  • Participate in the estimation and preparation of cost budget for a project or sub project and monitor and control actual cost against budget
  • Accommodate audience & context needs in oral communication
  • Use the writing process to compose texts required in the business environment

Module 3: Project support

  • Conduct project documentation management to support project processes
  • Develop a simple schedule to facilitate effective project execution
  • Interpret and use information from texts
  • Use language and communication in occupational learning programmes
  • Write texts for a range of communicative contexts
  • Engage in sustained oral communication and evaluate spoken texts

Module 4 : Project assistance

  • Provide assistance in implementing and assuring project work meets quality requirements
  • Implement project administration processes according to requirements
  • Monitor, evaluate and communicate simple project schedules
  • Plan, organise and support project meetings and workshops
  • Represent analyse and calculate shape and motion in 2-and 3-dimensional space in different contexts

Module 5: Project management and evaluation

  • Contribute to management of project risk within own expertise.  Write for a wide range of contexts, Read analyses and respond to a variety of texts, Apply a range of project management tools and techniques. Evaluate and improve the project team`s performance
